During this holiday season, many of us get caught up in the hustle and bustle of buying gifts and preparing for the new year to begin. While thoughtful presents are generous, Athletes for Animals encourages everyone to give the gift of their presence. The positive impact of donating your time to help a local animal shelter or rescue in need can change the lives of many four legged friends. Often, it’s just as rewarding for the volunteer as it is for the animals in need of care.
Recently, a few of our Athlete Ambassadors took some time out of their hectic holiday seasons and jumped at the opportunity to stop by their local shelters. They were able to help out by giving some dogs and cats the very warm love and attention that they needed.
James Laurinaitis, an NFL star with the St. Louis Rams, and his wife, Shelly joined Gateway Pets for a rescue and helped with the adoptable dogs at their emergency shelter.
And Trevor Cahill, a pitcher for the AZ Diamondbacks, and his wife, Jessica, stopped by Foothills Animal Rescue.
Every little bit helps this holiday season. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to help outstanding shelters and rescue groups, or volunteer with a companion animal organization in your area.
And, if you’re thinking of adding a furry family member this season and always, please adopt! You can find wonderful, lovable pets at your local shelter or Adopt-a-Pet.com.
Happy holidays from Athletes for Animals!
