Anže Kopitar is a professional ice hockey player and captain of the Los Angeles Kings. The 11th overall pick in the 2005 draft Anže made his debut October 6, 2006 against the Anaheim Ducks. Anže has developed into one of the best two-way forwards in the NHL. The well-rounded Kopitar has helped lead the L.A. Kings to two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. A two-time NHL All-Star Anže Kopitar has also made 12 appearances for his native Slovenia including the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Anže along with wife Ines and daughter, Neža have one dog, named Gustl. Ines and Anže were instrumental parts of Athletes for Animals rescuing two strays dogs from the streets of Sochi and have also been involved with awareness campaigns through NKLA. Ines and Anže had this to say about joining A4A, “We were able to see some of the dogs living on the streets of Sochi and it made us want to help others as well. Through our contact with Athletes for Animals, we knew it was a great way to start.”
