Tyson Strachan is professional hockey player for the Buffalo Sabres organization.  Strachan is in his tenth NHL season and has previously played for the St. Louis Blues, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Minnesota Wild.  Tyson has personified what it means to work for everything you get as he played professionally in the ECHL before being promoted to the AHL and earning an NHL spot through hard work, determination and being a good teammate.  Along with his passionate pet loving wife, Kate, the two started Strachan Strays, who’s mission is to promote pet adoption from a network of responsible no-kill shelters throughout the United States.  Click here to learn more about Strachan Strays.  Tyson and Kate are true examples of people trying to better the lives of animals by using the platform they have and a great template for other athletes to follow.  They share their home with their two adopted dogs, Soder and Raja and also consistently foster and help with rescue work on a regular basis.  Tyson says, “Kate and I have seen first hand the mistreatment and lack of understanding of companion animals.  We hope to do all that is in our power to minimize, if not eliminate, these things from happening.  Athletes For Animals is a great tool to show the public the reality of the current state of things and the work that is being done to change it.”
